Whats everyones favorite brands and colors? Myself I like YUM and Mizmo. My favorite colors are watermelon, green pumpkin and rootbeer. One thing I like to do with my watermelon and green pumpkin tubes is to dip the tails in chart. Spike It. Seems to work very well.

Hey Ryan, I am going to pick up some tubes next time I go to BPS. Didnt see any good ones at Wal-Mart tonight. Do you use them primarily for smallies? I'm going to try some out at Big South Fork next time I head up there. What type of jig head do you prefer, the cylindrical ones or the tapered ones?

I mostly fish for largemouth. Most of the time I use a 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG with a bullet weight. If I am fishing open water, then the regular tube jig heads work well. For those I use 1/4 oz.

I like Mizmo, Gitzit and the Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo.
For smallmouth I fish a 3 1/2" in Baby Diaper Yellow (squash green).
For largemouth I prefer 4 1/2" in Black Neon (black with red flakes).
When I'm fishing for smallmouth in relatively open water, I fish a traditional inserted jig head. Otherwise, T-rigged, Gamakatsu Offset 4/0 EWG with a bead and 1/8 oz bullet weight, unpegged. I fish tubes and nearly all soft plastics on spinning tackle and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. My weapon of choice is a medium power/ fast action rod, St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF saddled with a Shimano Sustain 2500.

Check out Case soft plastics. The guy makes the best smallmouth baits I have ever seen. I too like the watermelon/watermelon red and rootbeer colors.

In addition to the normal color selections mentioned here, I will throw one colored cotton candy. When rigging with a regular tube head jig, I will stretch the open end of the tube to cover the hook portion. This gives the tube/jig a totally different profile and action. In addition you will find that you get far less hangups in rocks as well as brush.

I like Storms Rattlin' tubes, Color Smoke.
I also got a ton of hand poured tubes that a local bait shop pours. They are beyond awesome. I got them in watermelon and smoke. They are like fathead tubes. -Chris
