i guess my ? is this, what kind of line do you have on your crankin stick, a low memory or opposite. Also, does anybody use the expensive flourocarbon. If so, does it work?

I use 10lb test Sufix Elite monofilament. I've heard that its good to use mono because it has stretch which will help prevent those trebles from ripping out of the mouth of the fish as easy. The flourocarbon has hardly no stretch so Im assuming you would probably loose a few more fish without the stretch or "give."

Ryan,
I would agree that mono is the right choice if you are fishing an all purpose rod. However, if you fish a technique specific, crankbait rod your line choices are greater. I fish three different, technique specific rods for all crankbaits, jerkbaits and topwater lures. The exact rod is a function of the weight of the lure. My light and medium lure rods are moderate action, my heavier rod is slow action glass.
My light lure gear is spinning equipment. I use #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft on this combination.
My chioice for medium weight lures is a baitcaster saddled with a very fast retrieve reel which I especially like for lipless cranks. I also use this particular tackle for all spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. On this rig and all baitcasters I spool #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft.
For heavier lures, I use a slower retrieve reel and #12 Yo-Zuri.
In all instances, the rod compensates for sudden surges and the pull of big bass caught on treble hooks.

Hey roadwarrior, Ive been thinking of spooling my spinning reels up with that Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Do you really like it? How well does it perform? Does it have a lot of memory?

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft
1. It is the best all around line I have ever used and I have tested a lot of lines, some of which I liked at the time.
2. I fish "Rocks from Hell" below Pickwick Dam. The line is highly abrasive resistant, breaking strength significantly overtests (#4=8.5 lb test, #6=11.9), and although it is not as invisible as pure fluorocarbon, it is stealthy.
3. I have been using original Hybrid for a couple of years and memory has not been an issue for me. However, I am making a complete switch to the Ultra Soft, it's that much better. In use, it has virtually no memory. That's not to say that you might not have a little initially on a small spool that's been stored for several weeks, but that works out immediately. You will have no memory issues with this line.
My main smallmouth rig is a G.Loomis GLX PR844S/ Shimano Stella 2500FB. This outfit is spooled with Ultra Soft #4. I have never been broken off by a fish. I have landed drum and catfish over 20 lbs, buffalo 12-15 lbs and my PB smallmouth, 8 lbs. I trust this line.
My soft plastics rig is a St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Sustain 2500. I fish #6 on this combination.
On all baitcasters I am using #12=19.5 lb test.
