Nice fish. Those are Alabama spotted bass which are a different species from the Kentucky spotted bass we catch here. They are genetically superior to the ones we have . There is also a Coosa River spot that gets big but not like that 7+. I used to fish North MS and East Ark when I lived in Memphis back during the 70's. We caught some real good spots at Indian bay which was a Ox Bow off the White River in Ark. Not 7+ though. That area is a true bass fishermen's paradise. I love fishing those MS River ox bows . These guys may be fishing an OX BOW . There is a levy behind them. The State of MS built levees on some of the oxbows so that they could maintain water when the river was low. The regulate the flow out of the lake not in. For those that don't know what an Ox Bow is it is where a river flows into an area creating a lake. Ox bow have both a river inlet and outlet. In the spring when the MS floods it creates Oxbows many of which have become cypress lined natural lakes. Great Fishing. Thanks for sharing EZMUNY. Fish2win

I go to that site also. I am regestered as Fish2win there as well. There is a lake in District 1 called Tippah County Lake. In 1978 my fishing buddy Jack Stone took a 10 on a punkin seed crankbait there. It was in Feb. I netted the fish. That same day I fail out of the boat in the parking lot and broke my arm. I wont say what we had been doing besides fishing. Fish2win

Wilson has those Ala spotted bass. It also has some toad Smallies. It is about the southern most area that Smallies are naturally occuring so they have a long growing season. EZMUNY we were leaving to go to another lake to fish that afternoon. I tried to fish but ended up at the Hospital. I think after I read the blog that those fish were caught in the Big Tom waterway. It was under construction when I lived there . We used to use it for short cuts between MS Game and Fish lakes. If you get the chance to fish MS grab it. Theres toads in them there waters. Fish2win
