So today is Wednesday, which mean dad and I are off work. We decided to go fishing from 7:30am-11:00am. I wanted to stay longer, but we have to do something this afternoon that was some what more imporant then fishing. . So about 8:00am still in our first spot I hook a buzzbait bass it turned out to be a 12inch spotted bass. We make some more cast then move on to our 2nd hole where I caught some in a tournament before. We fish the rip raps didnt do nothing. I decided sit down for minute eat a vienna sasuage and re-group with my self lol. I tied on my favorite crankbait of all time in my favorite color. 3 cast later this bad boy decided to eat it. After I caught him, weight 'em and took a picture. On dad next cast he get another 12inch spot. We fish some more didnt get anymore. Here he is. My scale said 3-2, but I thought he was bigger then that. Ah well look can be deceiving.

Dude, I was in like 2-10foot of water. I was basically felt the bottom the whole time with my crankbait then all sudden that crankbait just stop, I swung my rod then bam it started swimming. When I saw it near the surface I was like whoa big fish.
I'm dead serious when dad netted him, I thought it was 4 pounds plus. But my scale kept ringing 3-2. I think my scale might be off. I'm grab a 5 pound weight downstair and weight it and see what happens.

That is how you want to use those cranks, staying in contact with the bottom at all times or you are not using them right. When you feel something solid slow or stop your retrieve and it will not get hung as often. Cranks will produce year round if you fish them at the right depth. In my earlier days that is about all I fished and caught many fish on them.
Nice fish, if you would have caught up with it a few weeks ago 4 pounds would have been right on. That is a typical long skinny post-spawn fish.
BTW I would fish that same area until in dried up b/c this time of year fish begin to school by size.

Great looking fish KW. I think it looks bigger than 3.2 also. Did you measure its length and girth? I would have called it 4 also. Fish2win

kw, great fish. check your scales, first. if it is digital, they usually are pretty close. if i had a choice between my arm/brain and a spring scale i would trust my arm/brain. i'm going to assume you had a spring scale and call it a 4lber. keep up the good work! bradd
