The moment probably no one has been waiting for...
Alright guys I made it to Norris and I was a little skeptical with the weather, but I was talking about this weekend for what 4-5 months now? So I couldn't back out and I am glad I didn't. Sure the majority of yesterday morning I basically was melting the ice in eyelets in the lake water. Heck, at one point I had a layer of ice around my line. My feet were frozen yesterday along with my hands, but there was a lot to be thankful for.
Norris treated me well. The Smallmouth were on. I caught probably 6-8 keepers this weekend. I broke 2 more off and lost a couple more that would have kept. All said and done, I probably caught 15-20 SM, 5 small spots, and 2 largemouth. I lost a huge Spot or a good size LG that jumped and spit my lure. The action was definitely hotter on Friday for big fish than Saturday. I could have caught more but I went on a mission to catch a big LG. As you already know, I got my heart broke with a belly flop. I was rusty, but I am not complaining. Can't win them all!
Here are some pics...I didn't have my camera until the last 3 hours of fishing on Saturday afternoon. I took it out on Friday, but the batteries were dead. I charged it that night, but then forgot it. Oh well! I am going to forget it more often if the fishing is like this...the biggest one was 1/4" of an inch shy of 20" with a 13" girth. BTW, the majority of the big fish had spawned. They had torn up lips and tails, but these two pictured didn't seem to be as bad. All fish were release, so these pics are the best I could do. I will tell you that trying to take these pics by yourself on a wild SM is not an easy task. The other SM was 19". Enjoy!
