Anyone have any success on flat sided cranks? I read an article in Tennessee sportsman about how they are a hot bait right now in TN. They are supposed to work well when its cold like it is now, and they have a tight wobble. What has anyone here used? The magazine mentioned the bomber flat A. Anyone have any input?

I've had some luck in the past at Pickwick w/the Bomber Flat A's in firetiger. Unfortunately, it was several years ago and I don't remember details like water temp, fishing conditions, etc. That was before I started keeping a fishing log.
I've caught a few fish in the last month on the Bandit Flat Max in taco salad and shad (threadfin, I think) at Gibson County Lake. The water had cooled and I was using a SLOW retrieve.
I haven't used them enough to really compare their catch ratio to regular cranks. It would be interesting to see the results if somebody has done this.

I have used the flat side with the coffin bill for about 15 years. Originally a guy named Steve Blazer was making them in Knoxville and then Perry Shockly in Jefferson City came out with one. He sold out to Bill Norman and Norman produced one for a few years back in the late 1990. a guy named Harold Norris in North Knoxville was making some. His most famous color was called the Horton Special. It was a color he made for Dwayne Horton.Horton is a touring pro who won a lot of the bigger local tournamnets back in the late 80 and early 90. The most recent that I have used has been the Bandit flat side with the modified coffin shaped bill. It has been deadly for big smallies here at Norris all year. The best color has been the white splatter back with the yellow belly. I have caught fish on several colors of that bait. The coffin shaped bill gives the bait a tight wobble and causes it to vere like a square bill bait when it strikes and object. I highly recommend them. Fish2win
