Fellers I have been trying to find the right way to compose this, and it has taken me about 2 weeks to word it. I had something happen to me that I never thought would... May 28, I had a whole day to do whatever I wanted. Very rare for me. Let me say that I fish by myself on the boat most of the time. I am very meticulous and careful about the way I launch because I understand how dangerous it can be, especially in winter. As I backed the boat down the ramp and was letting it slide off, I stepped out to do my launch procedure. The truck began rolling backwards. The truck door knocked me down. Completely knocked me under water... Luckily I am in good physical shape and was able to pop right up and jump into the truck. The truck got water in it up to the butt portion of the seats. Insurance deemed it a total loss. I learned that things like that can happen. I've never seen it. 17 years of launching my own boat alone. What i think I did was forget to put the truck in park. I've went over it a million times in my head. I'm thankful it was May and not December. I'm thankful the truck didn't run over me with the tires. The truck is replaceable. Double check everything at the ramp when launching. Use my stupidity as your lesson I'm also grateful to the bank fishermen who came running to help me. Be careful out there fellers.

Lucky the truck did not pen you under water, In all the years I have launched the boat I had a similar problem once. Luckily i was just a few feet away and able to get in the truck before it went way in the water. i will add one more tip. If you are parking on a hill or slope turn you tires as far as possible. That way if some freak thing happened it will jack knife the truck and trailer and prevent it from rolling down the hill. Glad all is well . f2w

Glad you're Ok... I always, always, always put the truck in park and apply the emergency brake... Dan I always do to...It looks like I forgot to mention in my post that I have a soft cast for a broken thumb on my right hand, which alters my feeling and I thought it was in park. I guess it was neutral. Thanks though you all, glad it wasn't worse.
