:(Hey guys I need ya'lls expert opinion. I was out the other day and as soon as i put the boat in forward to leave the ramp, the thing just starts jerking as it's goin forward. (it felt like I was draggin on a rock). What could this be? I was told to check the fluid in my Lower Unit. {Thats a nightmare}. So i did , and i had some metal on the magnet, but also were talking about a ten year old engine too. I noticed hardly any fluid came out when i took out the screw. I filled her up w/ some new fluid and was off the next day. At first leaving the ramp it did it again, but after some riding and fishing on the way back home it didnt do anything. What should i do now. Just go on bout my business or have it checked out. I gotta trip to florida in March and i hope its nothing major. By the way just fished cherokee friday morning caught some good LM around the ponderosa area. Slow finesse jig .

Man, I fish cherokee today couldn't get a bite. I havn't had a fish on cherokee since october. I fish a manns stone jig black/blue with a black/blue craw trailer. I just drag it slow along the bottom.
But back to the boat Maybe it could be that your engine is not warmed up yet. I'm saying that because you said on way back to the dock it didnt do it. So maybe it got warmed up and rev up.
Just next time you go let it idle for a little bit then do it. If it still does then I'm not sure what i would do next since you already did the fluid.

Sounds like it maybe the lower unit has some air pockets in it. Make sure when you replace or add to the lower unit that you fill it up from the bottom hole allowing the oil to flow out the top. Let it set for a while and repeat that should ride your lu of air pockets. Could also be a linkage problem. May want to post on another board such as Bass Boat Central.
