Recently I have purchased a couple of rods with the micro guides. 2 skeet reese and one duckett rod. I have gone with some very light action rods with the thoughts of increased distance on smaller crankbaits. Right now the jury is still out as to whether or not I succeeded in my quest. 1. Like the other casting rods I have they don't handle the smaller than 3/16oz baits. 2. They are a monster to re-thread in limited light situations. 3. They are more sensitive than some of my other sticks. 4. Yellow and white are much more visible in the rod lockers and on the deck. So far I haven't really seen much difference in the micro vs standard guide configurations. In conclusion, I still have to keep some spinning rods on board to handle the smaller jerk baits. If any of you have rods with the micro guides, what is your thoughts?

I haven't had an opportunity to try the micro guides yet. I have wondered if they would increase friction on the line therefore shortening the distance. I am interested in opinions on these myself.

To me it seems those guides would increase friction like Mike said, but on the other hand would it decrease line slapping inside the guide on the cast?

All the reports I have read on the subject has stated that the line slap is actually worse than the friction of the guides. Also they have stated the small guides increase sensitivity.

I had heard that they increase sensitivity.
